• Originally the Swallow Sidecar Company (founded in 1922) and then in 1934 the name changed to S.S.Cars, the company was renamed Jaguar Cars in 1945. Bought Daimler in 1960. Daimler became an upscale trim level for Jaguar. Jaguar merged with BMC in 1966 and then with Leyland in 1968.
• The XK8 was built form 1996-2006, available in Coupe or Convertible. Derived from the XJS, it shared its platform with the Aston Martin DB7. In 2004 the grille was refreshed with a horizontal chrome bar through the centre
• Engine; the new 4.0 litre V8 (supercharged option from 1998, the XKR, and from 2003 4.2 litre in normal or supercharged)
