GIGANTICKÁ Fotografie + Description: Since I only had limited time to meet at the Louvre I had to physically run to get to this tower to get a picture. We had passed it on the way to the Louvre and the guide said it was like a lighthouse in the old days to bring people to it. The word lighthouse got me wanting to get a shot, got these and ran back to the Louvre.

  • Saint-Jacques Tower is a 52 metre (171 ft) flamboyant Gothic tower and is all that remains of the former 16th century Church of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie (Saint James of the butchery), which was leveled shortly after the French Revolution.
  • A statue of Blaise Pascal is located at the base of the tower, commemorating the experiments on atmospheric pressure.
