Fotografie + Description: In 1958, The United States' National Malaria Eradication Program used an entirely new approach implementing DDT for spraying of mosquitoes.

• DDT, first developed during the early stages of WWII, was very effective in combating vector-borne diseases such as malaria, typhus, but was banned by the Environmental Protection Agency in June, 1972, from general use in the United States.
