• The North America Nebula is located in the constellation of Cygnus near Deneb. The nebula consists mainly of hydrogen gas, which is also what causes the reddish glow. It is between 2000 and 3000 light years in distance and got the name because its shape resembles the outline of the North American continent on the map. The Pelican Nebula (IC 5070) can be seen at the top right of the picture. With a little imagination you can recognize the pelican. :-) The many stars that can be seen in the area around the nebula are impressive.
• This Image was made as a test of my new, cooled camera. The sensor was cooled down to approx. -15 °, this should reduce the sensor noise. Stacking in Siril, post-processing in Gimp and Lightroom.
• Tech: Telescope TS72, 432mm, no filters
• Camera ATR3CMOS26000KPA with APT,
• Mount: HEQ-5, guiding (PHD2),
• Light frames 29 x 120 sec (58 minutes) + dark images.
• Taken from Bortle 4-5 zone, Braunschweig, Germany
