• Serial No J03.
• German registration ‘Y-209859’.
• British registration ‘02 SP 60’.
• FVRDE serial ‘7218’.
• Built 1962 as one of a batch of 50 pre-production Leopards. It is marked ‘L03’, which indicates it may be the third of seventeen built by Luther & Jordan of Braunschweig.
• Along with sister tank ‘L02’ it was exchanged with British Chieftains and tested by the Fighting Vehicle Research & Development Establishment at Chertsey.
• ‘L02 / 7217’ is now on display at RMCS Shrivenham, while ‘L03 / 7218’ is seen here on display in the Tank Story Hall at The Tank Museum, Bovington, Dorset, UK.
